Pageants For AI-Generated Beauty Queens Are Now A Thing

The very first "Miss AI" pageant

The very first “Miss AI” beauty pageant has happened. The world of beauty pageants isn’t going to be the same.

The world of beauty pageants isn’t going to be the same.

A new kind of beauty pageant has emerged and raised many eyebrows – it’s because the contestants are not real humans.

In the recently concluded "Miss AI" beauty pageant, the World AI Creators Awards (WAICAS) gathered 10 finalists in their quest to find the most stunning AI-generated woman. These finalists were selected from 1,500 participants, with teams of creators from around the world utilizing AI image generators.

Today, there are thousands of AI web apps that can generate photorealistic and attractive models from simple text descriptions. One such tool is Nectar AI, which not only generates hyperrealistic beauty queens but also offers an interactive user experience through role plays.

    The Miss AI Pageant

The Miss AI contest was organized by Fanvue, an influencer platform, as part of the World AI Creator Awards (WAICA). Models and influencers brought to life by AI are set to compete in the "Miss AI" beauty pageant, offering a prize of $20,000. It aimed to celebrate the technical skill and creativity behind AI-generated digital influencer personas.

    Miss AI Contestants

Kenza Layli, a Moroccan lifestyle influencer, was crowned the inaugural Miss AI.

The World AI Creator Awards (WAICA) Instagram page showcases 10 posts, each introducing one of the AI-generated contestants to the audience. Here's a snapshot of some of the highlighted contestants:

    • Emphasizes how technology can "enhance the human experience, not replace it."

    Aiyana Rainbow:

    • From Romania, Aiyana advocates for inclusivity and empathy to her 3,200 followers.
    • The profile features LGBTQIA+ iconography.
    • Posts adorned with rainbows. Embodies "inclusivity and LGBTQIA+ acceptance."

Looking at these images, it’s hard to believe that these are not real women, but everything about them is AI-generated.

    How are these Girls Generated?

As previously mentioned, there are countless AI tools capable of generating realistic images of women resembling actual beauty queens. In the example below, I will try to create a persona that I believe has the potential to win the upcoming Miss AI competition.

To do this, I used one of the most popular AI companion generators, Nectar AI.

Start with creating a Necar AI account and click on the “Create Companion” button. The screen below will be displayed allowing you to choose either to start from scratch or use an existing photo as a reference.

In this example, I will be starting from scratch. Nectar AI offers a wide variety of ethnic options to choose from, which is perfect if you want to create a pageant contestant. Try creating your AI companion.

I am Asian and am mostly attracted to Asian women, so I will choose Japanese as an example:

    Nectar AI Create Girl (Ethnicity)

Give her a name and age. Make sure to set the age to at least 18 years old to be qualified for the competition. Now, it’s time to set her physical looks.

The program is designed to give you as much control over the physical appearance of your AI character as possible.

Next, we’ll give her a somewhat skinny physique. The judges want to be very fair and inclusive of all the beauty standards in the AI pageant, so feel free to set the body type you deem beautiful.

You can also adjust her hairstyle, hair length, and hair color.

Finally, you can give her a unique personality that the audience and judges are going to love. Feel free to add her interests, hobbies, talents, and all other non-physical aspects you can think of.

For Kate, I gave her this personality:

“A strong and independent woman. She’s a smart and hardworking woman. Kate loves to work out, do sports, read books, and do arts. She particularly likes to do painting and also digital arts. Kate loves to have meaningful conversations and share her own interesting stories”

There’s also a field to add more physical traits like tattoos, glasses, etc.

Finally, submit and wait for Nectar to generate the final image. With the example parameters above, here’s what the final image of Kate looks like:

Awesome. She looks pretty and very realistic. I bet she could win the Miss AI pageant, right?

What’s the Goal of Miss AI?

Will Monange, the co-founder of Fanvue, stated that the awards are

"a fantastic mechanism to celebrate creator achievements, raise standards, and shape a positive future for the AI Creator economy"

As the pageant is sponsored by Fanvue, a platform for AI-generated content creators, there's a clear commercial aspect to promote and legitimize AI-generated influencers.

    Prizes and Recognition

The Miss AI pageant offered substantial rewards for the winners:

    • Total prize pool of over $20,000
    • The winner received $5,000 cash, mentorship programs, and PR support
    • Runners-up also received cash prizes and promotional packages

    Final Thoughts

The Miss AI pageant is going to spark a lot of discussions about the future of AI in social media and its impact on beauty standards.

While some may see it as a showcase of AI's creative potential, it may perpetuate unrealistic beauty standards. Also, there will be debates over the ethical implications of AI-generated models and influencers, will these kinds of tools cause an objectification of women?

Evidently, AI technology is getting better, it's harder to distinguish between real people and AI-generated ones. But these AI pageants are just the beginning. AI actors have also started getting into TV commercials, newscasters, and promotional ads. What's next? AI doctors? lawmakers?
